Since being elected in May we have participated in Base Camp at the Hannaford Career Center in Middlebury, Vermont. In June, we had our next training which took place in New York at Camp O! Here we met officers from all over New England and New York. We had a great time, learning about being role models and leaders as well as getting to know the other states. Our next training sent us to D.C. along with officers and delegates from all 50 states. We learned how to advocate for agriculture and met with Senator Sanders, Senator Leahy, and Representative Welch and used our new skills and information to advocate for agriculture within our own states. Check Point 2 was hehld at the State Grange Camp in October and we learned and practiced communicatioin skills as well as assisted with a training for chapter members. Since then we have been on the road at fairs, foundation meetings, national convention, farm show, chapter meetings, state house visit and so much more! Hoping to see all of you in May!
Your State FFA Association attended Farm Show on January 30th to advocate for Vermont FFA and agriculture. The officers were interviewed on two different radio stations and were on a segment of WCAX and Across the Fence that day also. The four officers are required to do a capstone project and chose Meals of Hope. They need to raise $12,500 by State Convention (May 6th) which will allow them and the Vermont FFA members to make 50,000 meals that will be delivered to Montpelier for distribution to food shelves around Vermont. This will occur at State Convention and all donations will be greatly appreciated. If you are interested checks can be made out to the Vermont FFA Association with the subnote saying Meals of Hope.
